Dezmond's October Chapter DropThere's advice that authors should share life stuff with their newsletter, to build a relationship. I haven't done that yet, even though there's significant things happening in my life. One happened this month, though, that may have an effect on how much writing I get done in the next few weeks. My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January. He was on the first treatment of chemo for about six months. When that stopped working, there was a short break, then he went on the second type for about one month. The side effects of that were really hard, and the FDA just approved a pill for pancreatic cancer in September, that was especially targeted toward the type he had. He was on it for three weeks, and the side effects were even worse than the chemo. On Tuesday, October 6, he made the decision to stop treatment and go on hospice. On Friday, October 9, he died at 3:20pm. I didn't see him between Wednesday and Friday because I was fighting a cold and didn't want to get him sick. Ove of the last things he did in his last year was write some astronomy essays. I've compiled them into a book for my family, and will be releasing it on Amazon KU and paperback next week. Who would have thought the first thing I do with my author career is not publish my queer fiction, but to publish a series of non-fiction essays to keep a promise I made my dad on his deathbed? Another Little Thing In the Grand Scheme of Things (Published under my dad's name and the name my family knows me by.) The Raven and the WolfA farmer's son and a duke's heir fell in love as children. Newsletters Swaps– Dezmond _____________________________________________ |
I write queer romance and speculative fiction that centers bigender, gay, aroace, and polyamorous characters. I believe in love stories where the biggest challenge isn't being queer, it's learning to trust, be vulnerable, and build a life on your own terms. My stories explore non-traditional relationship structures and emotional authenticity, with a guaranteed happily-ever-after. When not writing, I can be found wrangling two cats, rolling dice at a D&D table, creating digital art, or reading across every genre I write.

Dezmond's September Chapter Drop As a lead-up to my book debut, I'm sending out mid-month newsletters specifically with chapter drops of my novel, The Raven and the Wolf. (Also, sorry for the weird formatting in the last couple newsletters, I didn't realize Kit was sending them full-screen and not column form. They should be looking like this from now on!) Dezmond's September Bookshelf This month was a busy month! Sorry not sorry for the massive wall of updates! I've made significant steps towards getting The Raven and the Wolf ready for publication. A huge chunk of writing done on Shape of Us. Two new stories have been started. Three experimental pieces were written and completed, including one rant about the state of the writing community and critics of it. And one rant about the state of polyamory in the romance genre after I got in a fight...
